Learning at Home

Standard

In light of the current situation, we have sent home a variety of tasks for Maths and SPaG in your wallets which you can complete in the coming weeks.  For children who have been absent this week, we are organising for these to be posted through your door.

We have also set up Google Classroom for you to access learning at home.  We have added a number of tasks to ensure you are able to keep your core skills in English and Maths up to date.

To access Google Classroom, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to Google home page.
  2. Click on ‘Sign In’ which is in the top right-hand corner.
  3. Sign in with your email which is your first name then . then last name then @halterworth.hants.sch.uk e.g. fred.smith@halterworth.hants.sch.uk
  4. Your password is halterworth (all lower case)
  5. Go to the 9 dots (arranged as a square) in the top right-hand corner (if you hover over it, you will see the words: Google Apps) and click.
  6. Scroll to the bottom and click ‘Classroom’.
  7. On the left-hand side of the page, click on your class name (6CA).
  8. In the centre, at the top of the next page, click ‘Classwork’.
  9. You can then access the activities, we have set for you. These are organised in folders by subject and, when you click on one of the sub-headings, the tasks will be shown.

Please note, you cannot type directly onto the tasks on screen; you will have to record your answers on paper in your green book. Most of the tasks set, include answers/mark schemes, so you can then check the work you have done, using these.

Don’t forget that there are a number of online education sites that are available to use at home. These include but are not limited to the following:

  • BBC revision BITESIZE (original site and new site)
  • MyMaths (Logon: halter Password: square)
  • Times Tables Rock Stars
  • Read Theory tasks https://readtheory.org/

Logons for Times Table Rock Stars and Read Theory are in your reading diary.

If you have any SATs revision guides or 10 minute test books at home, these will also be useful to practise.

Please make sure that you continue to read and continue to discuss your reading regularly and keep practising your times tables; we will expect you to be tables experts when we see you again!
